ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Another playoff game, another overtime for UMass Hockey. But on Friday afternoon in Rochester, N.Y., the Minutemen made one count in their favor as Kevin Jarman's goal 7:40 into sudden-death overtime lifted UMass over Clarkson in the NCAA East Regional semifinal. The Minutemen, who were playing in their first NCAA tournament game, will face Maine for the fifth time in the month of March at 6 p.m. on Saturday night for the right to advance to the 2007 Frozen Four in St. Louis.

The teams traded dominating stanzas, as UMass outshot Clarkson 13-4 in the first before the Golden Knights returned the favor in the second with a 18-7 edge in shots. Both goaltenders were up to the task, while Jon Quick kept UMass in the game with four saves in the first, 18 in the second and 10 in the third. David Leggio ended the game wtih 37 saves, including a game-high 16 in the third.

P.J. Fenton took five shots in the game--including two breakaways in the second--and Chris Capraro led the charge with six shots in the contest. But it was fellow senior Kevin Jarman that ended the game on a high note, scoring his ninth goal of the season 7:40 into the overtime session, assisted by Jordan Virtue and Will Ortiz. The assists were their second and 14th of the season, respectively.

Overall, shots were 38-33 in favor of the Minutemen. Both teams were called for six penalties for 12 minutes and went 0-for-4 on the power play opportunities.
