• UMass and Providence met for the 50th time in the series. With the loss, UMass is now 17-30-3 all-time vs. the Friars who take the season series 2-0-1. The Friars won both games at Schneider Arena.

• For UMass it was the third consecutive loss marking the first time since March 2006 that the Minutemen lost three straight games.

• Neither team scored in the first half despite Providence holding an 11-to-4 shot advantage. In games this season where neither team scores in the first period, UMass is 1-3-3. It was the eighth time this season that UMass kept its opponent scoreless in the first period.

• Providence scored the first goal of the game in the second period. UMass is now 4-5-3 when its opponent scores first.

• UMass killed off a 5x3 power play in the second period. UMass has killed off 11 of the last 12 (91.7%) opponent power play opportunities in the last three games.

Brett Watson scored UMass' first goal in the third period. It was his first of the season and the second of his career. Alex Berry and Kevin Kessler assisted on the goal. For Kessler the assist was the first of his career and his first career point.

Chris Davis scored UMass's second goal for his third of the season and the 20th of his career. Mike Kostka and Cory Quirk each had assists on the goal.

• The assist for Kostka gives him 35 for his career and moves him into 31st all-time at UMass.

 

 

• The assist for Quirk moves him into a tie for 35th all-time at UMass in career points (59) and into a tie for 39th all-time in career assists (31).
