AMHERST, Mass. - With a 28-7 victory for the UMass football team and a fifth place individual finish at the A-10 Cross Country Championships this past weekend, Tyler Holmes and Karen Roa took home Co-UMass Athletes of the Week on Monday. Holmes aided the Minutemen's victory over Richmond, recording one interception. Roa helped the Minutewomen to a tenth place team finish at the Conference Meet.

Posting the largest victory margin of the 2011 campaign, coach Kevin Morris and the football squad improved to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in CAA play with the Richmond victory on Saturday. Aiding the squad's efforts was co-captain Tyler Holmes, who registered five tackles and one interception. Holmes now leads the team in tackles with 79, and is one-of-six Minutemen to log at least one interception this season.

For coach Julie LaFreniere, Karen Roa was the top UMass harrier for a fifth time this season. The Jamaica, N.Y. native crossed the line at 17:37.7, while placing fifth overall and being named to the A-10 All-Conference Team.

Joining Holmes and Roa as speakers at this week's luncheon will be John Blihar, Director of Campus Recreation. The event is set to take place this Wednesday in the Cape Cod Room in the Student Union.
