Blanchflower Named John Mackey Tight End Of The Week
Oct. 16, 2013
NEW YORK - University of Massachusetts football redshirt-senior Rob Blanchflower was named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the award organization. Blanchflower secured five receptions for 98 yards and the eventual game-winning touchdown as UMass defeated Miami (Ohio), 17-10 on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The Leominster, Mass., native provided the touchdown through a career-long 47-yard grab on a pass from QB A.J. Doyle that was tipped at the Miami (Ohio) 27 yard line. Blanchflower adjusted his route and slipped by a RedHawks safety to pull in the reception at the Miami (Ohio) 19 yard line and run unhindered into the end zone with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter.
