AMHERST, Mass. - After key performances in UMass football's 17-10 win over Miami (Ohio), senior tight end Rob Blanchflower and sophomore safety Khary Bailey-Smith were honored by College Football Performance Awards. Blanchflower was named one of the honorable mentions for National Tight End of the Week, while Bailey-Smith was named one of the honorable mention for National Defensive Back of the Week.

Blanchflower hauled in five catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. His 47-yard touchdown reception was highlight-reel worthy as he tracked a deflected pass through the air before beating a Redhawk defensive back to catching it. The outing was just two yards shy of his career-best of 100-yards receiving set last year against Central Michigan. The yardage total also put the Leominster, Mass., native over the 1,000 yard mark for his career making him one of just 22 players all-time at UMass to reach the milestone. He is now third all-time at UMass among tight ends in receiving yards behind Hall of Famer Milt Morin and 1998 All-American Kerry Taylor.

Bailey-Smith, a native of Weymouth, Mass., made 10 tackles and posted two interceptions - both career-best marks. After starter Antoine Tharpe was ejected for targeting, Bailey-Smith made his first interception five plays later with a leaping, one-handed grab in the end zone preventing a Miami touchdown. His second interception in the fourth quarter set-up a Blake Lucas field goal to put the game out of reach.

UMass will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when the Minutemen head to Buffalo. Kick-off is set for 3:30 PM at UB Stadium and will be televised on the Time Warner Cable network and
