Sept. 13, 2010
AMHERST, Mass. -- UMass senior quarterback Kyle Havens was named to the College Football Performance Honorable Mention Team of the Week on Monday. He was also named UMass Co-Athlete of the Week with field hockey freshman forward Lindsay Bowman. Havens threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns in the football win over Holy Cross. Bowman scored the game-winner to beat #4 UConn and the game-tying goal vs. Yale on Sunday to send the game to OT, where UMass was victorious.
Havens has led UMass to a 2-0 start on the 2010 season and is completing 65 percent of his passes. Versus the Crusaders, he was 25-of-38. He will go up against Michigan and the College Football Performance FBS Player of the Week Denard Robinson next Saturday.
Bowman scored two of the most important goals for the first two of her career. She netted the game-winner as UMass topped UConn for the first time in 10 years on Saturday, winning, 1-0. Then on Sunday vs. Yale, Bowman scored with 6:04 left in regulation to force overtime. Katie Kelly scored the winner in the extra session.
