Amherst, Mass. - UMass Football's Darren Thellen received dual honors Monday for his performance against Indiana this past weekend. The senior defensive back was honored as the UMass Athlete of the Week by the UMass Sport Luncheon Committee and also received the College Football Performance Award for week two of the college football season.

Thellen had a team-high 11 tackles (9 solo), a pass break-up and an interception return for 21 yards off of Indiana's Tre Roberson in the Minutemen's loss Saturday afternoon. The interception was the eighth of his career, while his 21 return yards give him 193 for his career which is 7th all-time at UMass.

Darren Thellen will be featured Wednesday at noon at the UMass Sport Luncheon in the Massachusetts Room in the Mullins Center. The luncheon is open to the public and costs $11 to attend for a salad-to-desert buffet. Free parking is available behind the Mullins Center.

Charley Molnar's football squad is on the road this week in Ann Arbor, Michigan for this week's matchup of UMass and No. 17 Michigan. The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and will be aired on Big Ten Network.
