Football Media Day Provides A Great Day For UMass
Aug. 17, 2010
AMHERST, Mass. -- The UMass football team held its annual media day on Tuesday at a sun-splashed McGuirk Stadium. Close to 50 media members were on hand to interview the Minutemen and coach Kevin Morris after they prep for the 2010 season. The players went through interview sessions with print reporters and TV stations in addition to taking photos and being filmed for video segments on television and the McGuirk Stadium videoboard.
Coach Morris began his press conference with what else, but comments on UMass sensation Victor Cruz.
"The big thing about camp is our NFL expose last night. We had a great night, last night on ESPN, Victor Cruz, as I'm sure you guys saw, had a tremendous night. As well as Vladimir Ducasse and James Ihedigbo. It was a great night for UMass football on TV nationwide. The question is, 'Who holds the record for the most TDs ever in the New Giants Stadium? Anybody ... Victor Cruz. Alright. We are off to a great start, those guys are having a great camp. Brandon London out with the Steelers and Jeremy Horne with the Chiefs. Those guys are doing really well. Jeromy Miles, dod you see his hit on Tim Tebow, the other night? He lit him up a little bit. So UMass is doing really well in the NFL.
"Here, back at home, we are having a good camp. We are through Week 1. We had a good live scrimmage on Saturday. Very clean on both sides, we have made some great gains. We are a very young team overall that is looking to mature by Week 1. There is no time to waste. We have to be ready to go from the get-go. That's our plan and that's what we are working towards right now."
