Whipple, Minutemen Host Annual Media Day At New Football Performance Center
Aug. 13, 2014
UMass head football coach Mark Whipple and the members of the team invited media from around the state to the Minutemen's annual Media Day which was held in the new Football Performance Center.
After a lunch for the team and media, Coach Whipple gave an overview of where things are with the program after the first 10 days of preseason camp. He spoke with reporters for just over 20 minutes before joining the rest of the coaching staff for an official group photo.
The day was busy for the entire team as players rotated through several stations. Each player took their official head shot for the 2014 season while each position group also took an official photo with their specific coach.
Members of the offense also had to take their video board head shots in the team auditorium. The UMass Sports Network had each player pose in front of a green screen and will now begin composing those videos with background graphics for the Gillette Stadium and McGuirk Stadium video boards.
While all of this was going on, UMass held an open locker room for reporters as many players were interviewed by outlets from all over the state. Jovan Santos-Knox even took ABC40 on a guided tour of the building to point out several of the features.
The day ended around 3 PM when the offensive players had a meeting and the defensive players had a weight lifting session.
