AMHERST, Mass. - The Minutemen continued training camp in the heat and humidity on Tuesday. Kevin Morris had his guys in gear as the team went through some team stretching this morning.

With a heavy focus on academics, the Minutemen had counseling meetings with the academic support staff prior to lunch.

The Boston Globe was out at camp today to do a story on senior tailback John Griffin and his transfer to UMass after Northeastern dropped football. With team meetings, it was off to the field for practice number two.

Also of note today, the football roster has been updated to include a quintet of newcomers. The new Minutemen include redshirt sophomore transfer Nick Speller, who comes to UMass from Syracuse, who will compete for time on the offensive line. Sophomore James Lizotte comes to UMass from Holy Cross, but will have to sit out as a transfer from one FCS school to another. Three freshman are also in camp: offensive linemen Mike Kahale and Jeff Skoog along with linebacker Ryan Delaire.
