AMHERST, Mass. - Fans are invited to join members of the UMass Department of Athletics, the University and the football program next Tuesday, July 2 at 10:00 AM for the Topping Out Ceremony of the UMass Football Performance Center.

The Performance Center is located in the North Endzone of McGuirk Stadium. The Topping Out Ceremony is a celebration of the last steel beam being placed on top of the building.

Construction efforts at the site have gone well with the foundation work and steel beams being put in place over the last three months. The entire project is slated to be completed by Fall 2014.

In addition to the Football Performance Center, a new Press Box is also part of the $34.5 million upgrade project at McGuirk Stadium. The Performance Center is a 55,000 square foot complex which will include coaches offices, a new locker room space, meeting rooms, athletic training facilities and a dedicated strength and conditioning facility. The Press Box measures 5,800 square feet and will be designed to accommodate a range of media with a primary focus on television production accessibility.

Fans can follow the progress of the construction by viewing the live camera at McGuirk Stadium:
