UMass Football Announces All In! Tour Events And Information
May 20, 2013
AMHERST, Mass. - As the 2013 University of Massachusetts football season fast approaches, the program will host several special events as part of its `All In!' Tour in the Greater Boston area and Western Massachusetts. The events are geared towards getting fans and alumni excited for the upcoming football campaign which will mark the Minutemen's second season at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.
The Greater Boston region, home to a high percentage of UMass alumni, will be the focal point for the month long campaign, which will introduce the 2013 coaching staff and team, specifically the athletes hailing from Massachusetts. The planned events will prepare area fans and community organizations for the upcoming season and integrate them into coaching clinics, football camps, and meet-and-greets; as well as discuss the vision and future of the UMass football program with area alumni and business leaders.
"The UMass Football Team is excited to be back in the Boston area, for the second season, where so many of our loyal fans and UMass alumni live," said Coach Charley Molnar. "We've planned a jam packed month of fun and interactive events in Boston to meet with our fans - kids, teens and adults - so they can get to know their team, in their city, and grow as energized about the 2013 UMass Football Team as we are."
The month will start on June 4 in Western Massachusetts with a Football Open House to be held at the headquarters of the program. The free event will allow fans to get a behind-the-scenes look at the football operation, meet coach Molnar and his staff, and meet players from the team.
The program will then have two special events at Gillette Stadium for Youth Football and Cheerleading Presidents (June 5) and area community leaders (June 6). The reception will introduce those groups to Coach Molnar and will give them a chance to learn about all the special opportunities afforded them with UMass games at Gillette Stadium.
On June 7, the `All In!' Tour will return to Western Massachusetts for an event at the Amherst Brewing Company in conjunction with the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce.
The following two weeks will see the tour return to Gillette and Eastern Massachusetts with three more exciting events. On June 12, the UMass Marching Band will invite all area high school band directors to Gillette for a reception to discuss the ever-popular Band Day for the upcoming season.
That will be followed on June 14 with UMass Football 101 which will be a women's clinic with all proceeds going to support breast cancer research. The clinic will be an evening of fun and is designed at giving women the opportunity to learn the game from UMass coaches and players at Gillette Stadium.
The month will close out on June 22 with a Youth Football Coaches Clinic at Gillette Stadium where the UMass football staff will work with them on practice fundamentals, equipment and share insight into building strong programs.
Coach Molnar will also be a guest speaker at the Gridiron Club Golf Tournament on June 17 at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland.
