AMHERST, Mass. - UMass cornerback Courtney Robinson has signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. An All-American candidate that earned All-Conference first team honors as a junior and senior, Robinson holds two spots on the career charts, four in the single-season records, and one single-game record. He also brought back kicks for the squad, although most teams would kick short or away to avoid his returns.

As a senior, Robinson was named to the New England Football Writers FCS All-Star team and became the only UMass player to be named to CSN's Fabulous 50 FCS All-American team. In 2008, Robinson had 35 tackles, including one sack, and 11 pass break-ups while returning 18 kicks for 404 yards (22.4).

Robinson is first in the career charts in kickoff return yards with 1,388 in only three years of play. He is also fifth in kickoff return average (23.8). In the single-season charts, the Delray Beach Fla. native ranks fourth (495) and fifth (489) in kickoff return yards as well as fourth (26.1) and 10th (23.3) in kickoff return average. In 2007, Robinson returned a kick for 100 yards against Holy Cross to tie the third longest kickoff return.

Robinson is the first of the 2009 UMass football class to sign with an NFL team.
