Spring Football Game Set For Saturday At McGuirk
April 25, 2012
AMHERST, Mass. - The Annual Spring Football Game will take place Saturday afternoon at McGuirk Stadium and will feature a new wrinkle for the conclusion of the 2012 spring camp. This year will see the current squad take on a squad of alumni in the first half of the Spring Game with the second half featuring a traditional intra-squad scrimmage format.
There will also be a free Youth Clinic prior to the game, ample tailgating opportunities and free autographs from the players and coaches.
The game is set to start at 4 PM in McGuirk Stadium. The Alumni Team will feature current New England Patriot James Ihedigbo as its defensive coordinator with former NFL tailback Marcel Shipp returning as well as the alumni running back.
Prior to the game will be a free Youth Clinic put on by the players and coaches. There will be an autograph session beginning at 12:30 PM. The clinic itself will run from 1-2:30 PM. The clinic is open to all children age 12-and-under. Children can sign up by sending in the Registration Form or by calling the UMass Athletic Marketing Office at 413-577-7252.
Fans will also have the opportunity to assist the football team in a Clothing Drive with items going to local charities. Drop stations for new or gently used clothing or canned food will be located at the entrance gates. Those items combined with items already collected by the football team will be distributed among local charities.
Admission to the game is free and free 2012 schedule posters will be available for fans in attendance.
