Football To Hold Clothing & Food Drive In Conjunction With Spring Game

AMHERST, Mass. - In conjunction with the 2013 Spring Game which will be held Saturday, April 20 at McGuirk Stadium, the UMass football team will also be conducting a clothing and food drive to benefit the Amherst Survival Center and a toiletry collection for the Veterans Hospital of Northampton. The donation area will be located outside the stadium entrance on the South endzone side of the facility. Admission to the Spring Game along with all events during the day are free to all.

Spring Game - 4 PM
Youth Clinic - 1 PM
Autographs - 12:30 PM
Lots Open - Noon

All events free

Fans who wish to donate goods are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or any type of gently-used in-season clothing (men's, women's and children's). Toiletries to be donated to the Veterans Hospital include tooth paste, shampoo, soap and other similar items.

The Amherst Survival Center provides clothing, food, medical supplies and resources for those in distress. The Center has been promoting health and well-being of Franklin and Hampshire County residents since 1976 and servers over 3,000 people each year.

For the second straight year, the annual Spring Game will also feature UMass football alumni participating in the event. The current Minutewomen will take on the Alumni squad in the first half of the game while the second half will be a traditional intra-squad scrimmage.

The day will also feature an autograph session for fans beginning at 12:30 PM before the UMass coaches hold a free youth clinic for children in grades 1-through-8 which begins at 1:00 PM. The Spring Game will kick-off at 4:00 PM.

Lots will be open for tailgating beginning at Noon. The UMass Marching Band will be on hand throughout the day playing for fans at the tailgates and at the game.
