Great Turnout For UMass Football Youth Clinic At Gillette

April 13, 2013

Over 130 children in grades 1-through-8 attended this Spring's Youth Clinic put on by the UMass football team at the Dana-Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium on Saturday morning. The young football players spent the day learning drills from the coaching staff while having a chance to get autographs and pose for photos with the players.

Following the clinic, the players and their families were invited to watch the Minutemen's open practice and scrimmage session.

This marked the second straight year UMass has held a Youth Clinic at Gillette Stadium in head coach Charley Molnar's tenure.

The Minutemen will hold another free Youth Clinic next Saturday, April 20, as part of the Spring Game festivities.

The day will be full of activities for UMass football alumni and fans. For the second year in a row, the Minutemen will hold a Captain's Breakfast where former team captains will gather with the current senior class. Last year's event featured the return of several Hall of Fame players whose impact resonated with players and staff.

There will also be an autograph session with current and alumni players along with the Youth Clinic prior to the Spring Game. The autograph session will begin at 12:30 PM, while the Youth Clinic will run from 1:00-2:30 PM.

To register for the Youth Clinic (children in grades 1-through-8), please contact the UMass Athletic Marketing Department at 413-577-7252 or via e-mail at

Once again, the annual Spring Game will feature current Minutemen taking on a team of Alumni players at McGuirk Stadium. The game will begin at 4:00 PM as the current Minutemen take on the Alumni Team for the first half before moving to a traditional intra-squad scrimmage for the second half.

Lots open for tailgating at Noon and there will be several other events and activities going on for fans including performances by the UMass Marching Band.
