Stephane Milhim To Take Part In NFL Combine
Feb. 19, 2013
AMHERST, Mass. - For the second straight year, the UMass football program will be represented at the NFL Combine as offensive lineman Stephane Milhim is slated to work out for team scouts and draft experts this Saturday, Feb. 23 in Indianapolis. Fans can watch the NFL Combine live on the NFL Network or follow the coverage live on NFL.com.
Last season, UMass standout tightend/full-back Emil Igwenagu attended the NFL Combine before signing as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2010, Vladimir Ducasse attended the combine and was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the NFL Draft.
Milhim will report to Indianapolis on Wednesday, Feb. 20 where special team's players, offensive linemen and tightends will undergo medical pre-exams, X-rays, an orientation program and interviews. On Thursday, the group will then have official measurements taken, undergo a medical exam, work with the media, and have more interviews with team management. Friday will mark the first physical work for the offensive linemen as they will do a bench press drill before then undergoing psychological testing and fielding more interviews. The group will finally hit the field on Saturday for timing, station workouts and skill drills.
At UMass, Milhim was a consistent fixture on the offensive line as he started 37 of his 40 career games. The final game of the 2012 season marked the 22nd consecutive start for the versatile lineman who primarily played left tackle but saw time at every offensive line position during his career. Following his senior season, he was honored with the Bob Foote Offensive Lineman Award during the football program's Senior Banquet earlier this spring.
While born in Florida, Milhim was raised in Haiti where many of his family members still reside. A life long soccer player, he did not start playing football until his freshman year of high school when a coach asked him if he was interested in joining the team. While at Charles Flanagan High School in Florida, Milhim also became a state qualifier in the shot put and discus and was an accomplished wrestler.
