Carini & Cox Earn MAC All-Academic Honorable Mention Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - Redshirt sophomore Matt Carini and graduate student Michael Cox earned MAC Academic All-Conference Honorable Mention honors as announced by the league office. The two each have over 3.20 cumulative grade point averages. Carini was one of the Minutemen's top special teams' players, while Cox was the starting running back in 2012.
Cox led the UMass ground game with 715 yards and five touchdowns. The Dorchester, Mass., native had a season-high 188 yards rushing and two touchdowns at Miami. Cox graduated from Michigan in the 2012 Spring before enrolling as a graduate student at UMass to work on his masters in education while playing his final collegiate season for the Minutemen.
A native of Franklin, Mass., Carini played in 11 games this past season making six total tackles on special teams. The marketing major also forced a fumble in the win at Akron.
