Jan. 30, 2013
AMHERST, Mass. - UMass fans are invited to join head football coach Charley Molnar and his staff on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Amherst Brewing Company as he introduces the 2013 recruiting class. The event will begin at 5 PM with a social gathering before coach Molnar speaks about the talented group of incoming student-athletes. For those wishing to also attend the UMass men's basketball game against Rhode Island at the Mullins Center, a free shuttle service will be provided starting at 6:30 PM.
This will mark coach Molnar's second Football Bowl Subdivision recruiting class. The day marks the first in which high school student-athletes can formally sign National Letters of Intent which will be sent to the University throughout the day.
UMass has already had seven newcomers enroll for the Spring semester. The group includes three scholarship players in offensive linemen Josh Bruns, Cameron Mock and Sam Zeff.
Two members of the group, Montclair High School (N.J.) teammates Nate Crutchfield and Zeff, graduated early for the chance to get a head start in college.
Bruns enrolls after transferring from Glendale Community College, while Mock initially signed an National Letter of Intent last February, but was unable to join the program after suffering an injury prior to the season's start.
DuVaughn Beckford joins the Minutemen after playing two years at Assumption as a defensive back.
Also joining the program are Klysmann Afonso (Medford, Mass.) and Nick Valles (Danvers, Mass.).
