Minutemen Win Seventh Straight

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Jeff Krohn passed for three touchdowns to lead No. 4 Massachusetts to a 28-24 victory over Northeastern on Saturday.
Krohn completed 20 of 28 passes for 227 yards as UMass (8-1, 6-0 Atlantic 10) won its seventh straight game.
The teams were tied 21-21 at halftime before James Ihedigbo recovered a fumble at the Northeastern 28 yard line. On the ensuing drive Steve Baylark put the Minutemen ahead on a 7-yard run with 4:39 left in the third quarter.
Northeastern (5-4, 3-3) dominated early. The Huskies, after missing an early field goal, took a 7-0 lead on a 3-yard pass from Shawn Brady to Bobby French. The score was set up by a 43-yard interception run by Liam Ezekial.
Later in the first, Anthony Riley ran 59 yards up the middle to give Northeastern a 14-0 lead.
But on the second play of the second quarter, Krohn passed 15 yards to Rich Demers to start the UMass comeback, capping an 86-yard drive.
Northeastern capitalized on a botched UMass fake punt and regained its two-touchdown lead, 21-7, as Tim Gale scored on a 1-yard run.
Krohn then threw two touchdowns, a 49-yard pass to Jimmie Howard and a 46-yard pass to Jason Peebler, to pull UMass even at the half.
Miro Kesic added a 29-year field goal midway through the fourth quarter for
Northeastern.
