Postgame Quotes: No. 4 UMass 7, Northeastern 0

Oct. 28, 2006

Recap |  Box Score

Don Brown On The Win:
"I thought we grinded it out as a team. Obviously, I am very happy for Steve Baylark, who set a great milestone for himself and our team today. We need that fourth-down stop in the second half. Brad Anderson and the guy stepped up on the weakside and James Ihedigbo made the big play coming in the backdoor and it was just a great performance by the defense. That's our second shutout of the year against an Atlantic 10 opponent, which is not something that is easy to do."

Don Brown On Steve Baylark:
"Steve means a lot to me. I couldn't be happier for him. Even though we only scored seven points today, we certainly did a number on the clock today with time of possession and the way Steve carried the ball. He is a great, great player and an even better person."

Don Brown On Atlantic 10 and UMass' Success:
"It is never easy in the Atlantic 10. Nobody promises you a rose garden when you play in this league each weekend. We have one more road trip ahead of us in Durham (at New Hampshire) and I know our guys are looking forward to that."

Steve Baylark On The Win:
"It feels really good to come up with the win in the conditions with the way we played. I think our offensive line, receivers and tight ends did a great job controlling the game with the run game. It was 7-0 and you knew it was going to be a rough one on the scoreboard. All the guys are glad to get the win, a `W' is a `W'.

Steve Baylark On Reaching Four 1,000-Yard Seasons:
"It feels great. It feels marvelous. I could not have done it without the offensive line and the whole offense. Since I have been here I have been in the right position. I have worked hard to get here to where I am at. It is good to be mentioned with those guys Jerry Azumah and Adrian Peterson. That is something that will never be forgotten for years to come. It is a great feeling."

Steve Baylark On Knowing When He Broke 1,000 Yards:
"No one said anything to me until after the game. Last week against Rhode Island, the guys were saying things like, you are at 175 ... But this game I really didn't feel like I was breaking out. It was tough to run on them today. Fortunately I ran hard and got it done."

Steve Baylark On Looking Ahead To UNH:
"It is a grudge match. We will have a lot of emotion. We will have more focus in practice this week and be ready for New Hampshire next Saturday"
