Minutemen Fall To Hofstra, 36-6

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Rocky Butler threw for three touchdowns to Charles Adams and rushed for two more as Hofstra routed Massachusetts 36-6 in the Atlantic 10 Saturday.
Butler connected with Adams for scores of 9, 43 and 40 yards, and ran in twice from the 6 for touchdowns. He completed 22 of 36 passes for 383 yards.
Last week, in a 51-44 win over Maine, he threw for four touchdowns.
Adams finished with eight catches for a career-high 163 yards.
Kahmal Roy added 10 receptions for 168 yards for the Pride (3-1, 3-1).
UMass (0-4, 0-3) got its points on Doug White's field goals of 33 and 35 yards.
Minuteman quarterback Matt Guice was 18-for-35 for 177 yards and was intercepted twice.
Jeremy Cain snapped the ball of the end zone on an attempted punt to give Hofstra a safety early in the first quarter. The Pride made it 9-0 on Butler's 9-yarder to Adams with 1:28 left in the period.
After White kicked a 33-yarder early in the second quarter, Butler threw a 55-yard pass to Kahmal Roy to set up the quarterback's first scoring run.
Butler threw a 43-yard TD pass to Adams with 13 seconds left in the half to
make it 22-6, and the two connected on a 40-yard scoring play early in the
third quarter. Butler closed out the scoring with another 6-yard run with 1:38
left in the third.
