AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Stacy Tutt passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third to lead Richmond to a 24-14 victory over Massachusetts on Saturday.
Tutt was 12 for 31 for 192 yards passing and rushed for 117 yards.
Massachusetts (2-1, 0-1 Atlantic 10) took a 7-0 lead on Steve Baylark's 1-yard touchdown run at 7:51 of the first quarter. The touchdown was set up by Tim Day's 64-yard completion to Jason Peebler.
Richmond (2-1, 1-0) tied the game on Tutt's 7-yard scoring pass to Brandon Neuman that capped an 85-yard drive with 2:11 to play in the first quarter.
Day, who was 19-for-33 for 230 yards, threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Peebler to give the Minutemen a 14-7 lead with less than a minute left in the first quarter, but Richmond's defense held UMass scoreless the rest of the game.
Tutt's 41-yard run early in the second quarter made it 14-14, then the Spiders took the lead for good on Tutt's 40-yard touchdown pass to Harry Wilson on the last play of the first half.
The Minutemen were limited to 85 yards rushing and hurt themselves with 15 penalties for 111 yards.
Joseph Fore's 37-yard field goal with 46 seconds to play in the third quarter was the only score of the second half.
