Don Brown's Post-Game Quotes (UMass Head Coach)

On Richmond's Stacey Tutt I want to give credit to Richmond, I thought they came in and had a good game plan. Stacey Tutt was certainly the real deal. He had the big play just before the half where he scrambled to the left and threw to his left something he's very accurate at and we didn't want him to do.

On Richmond's Offense I thought they ran the ball well when they needed to - especially to prolong drives. Obviously the hail mary just before half was devastating, but we came out and only gave up three points in the second half.

On The Amount Of UMass Penalties We thought we handled a lot of the penalty problems in practice. A week ago Thursday we brought in an official to help us with our shifting problems and that helped, but obviously other penalties popped up today. We're putting in shifts and motions trying to move people to get them in the coverage checks we want, but we need to be cleaner about it.

Dave Clawson's Post-Game Quotes (Richmond Head Coach)

On Tutt's Running We had planned a lot of quarterback runs coming into the game, but until he (Stacey Tutt) broke eight tackles on one scramble, it woke me up and I said to myself that I need to call his number more.

On UMass Defense UMass graduated a lot of good defensive linemen and they have good ones now, but I don't think they had the depth up front that they did a year ago. Coach Brown runs a lot of 30-front and we thought if he jumped into that we could run successfully against it and some of our best runs came against that defense.
