UMass head coach Don Brown:
"When you have eight turnovers and you have the ball at midfield with a minute and 40 to go and you have a chance to win the game, that's interesting in itself. It shows the type of effort we got from all the guys, and we never gave up and stopped competing.
"Bad stuff happened to us during the course of the game with turnovers and injuries as well, but we kind of shook all that off and kept competing," he added. "I thought the effort was good, but the execution wasn't."
UMass senior DB Shannon James:
""We had eight turnovers, that's ridiculous. I've never heard of that before, and we'll never have eight again. I thought the defense played pretty good -- [Colgate] didn't do anything the whole game offensively. We just had too many turnovers.
"Out of eight turnovers and a missed field goal we still have a chance to win the game. We showed a lot of heart."
UMass freshman QB Liam Coen:
"Coach (Kevin) Morris definitely prepared me well enough to be in that situation, but I didn't think I was going to be put in that situation. My time came, and after I got some drives out of my system which I wasn't happy with, I guess I settled down."
