Brandon Hill's made his first career start at quarterback ... he finished the game 5-for-8 ... first career completion went to Jesse Julmiste with 8:30 left in the first quarter for five yards. Kellen Pagel also made his UMass debut, going 10-for-16. He threw his first career touchdown pass to Jesse Julmiste. He tossed his second in the fourth quarter to Julian Talley. Emil Igwenagu scored his first career rushing touchdown with a one-yard dive over the pile to give UMass a 7-0 lead with 5:48 left in the first quarter. Freshman Anddy Moas made his first career start at right guard. Redshirt freshman Kirk Nelms posted his first career forced fumble and fumble recovery in the third quarter. Redshirt freshman Ed Saint-Vil forced a fumble and recovered it on the opening kick-off of the second half which led to a UMass field goal. Redshirt sophomore Brendon Levengood was 2-for-2 on PAT's and kicked his first career field goal (25 yards). Jonathan Hernandez was named Game Captain for tonight's contest along with team co-captains Tyler Holmes and Emil Igwenagu. UMass has won nine of its last 10 season openers.
