Dyran Peake finished his second season as defensive backs coach at UMass in 2010. He led the secondary unit, which started two freshmen cornerbacks to the 37th-best pass defensive in the nation (allowing just 184 yards per game). He came to UMass from fellow CAA member Delaware, where he served in a variety of capacities, including Assistant Defensive Backs Coach (2005-06), Cornerbacks Coach (2007), and Cornerbacks Coach/Special Teams Coordinator (2008).

Peake tutored current Cincinnati Bengal and UMass All-American Jeromy Miles, which finished with 62 tackles and two interceptions as a senior in '09.

Peake also served as a Glazier Clinician at UMass. He recruiting areas included Southern New Jersey, Delaware, Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern California Junior Colleges.

With the Blue Hens from 2005-08, Peake communicated and illustrated all sideline adjustments for the secondary and called the defensive signals. He was also involved in recruiting in the mid-Atlantic region of Virginia and Washington D.C., along with Charlotte and Tampa, Fla.

In 2008, he assisted the pass defense that allowed a conference-low 10 passing touchdowns (sixth in the NCAA) and the second lowest defense completion rate in the CAA (57 percent). Peake also helped the secondary unit to allow just 167 passing yards per game (31st in the NCAA).

Peake developed a pair of All-CAA selections in cornerbacks Anthony Walters and Tyrone Grant. Walters went on to earn AP All-American honors. Grant set a school-record and single-season record for interceptions returned for touchdowns.

In 2007, he helped lead a much-improved Blue Hens defense to an 11-4 record and a spot in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game. That season, he tutored Walters as a freshman, who led the CAA in total passes defended (nine pass break-ups and three interceptions). Also in 2007, Delaware ranked 25th in passing defense in the NCAA and second in the conference in interceptions (13).

Peake also recruited and helped develop AP All-American safety Anthony Bratton as well as fellow All-American Charles Graves.

On special teams, he coordinated, planned and organized all aspects.

Peake, spent three seasons as a graduate assistant at Duke University before moving on to Cornell for the 2004 season.

At Cornell, he worked with the tight ends and H-Backs for the Big Red. He helped the Big Red to go from zero league wins in 2003 to a 4-3 Ivy League mark in the 2004 season. It marked the first time in Ivy League history that a team went from no wins to a winning conference mark. He assisted an offense that ranked second in the league in passing at 217.2 yards per game. Peake recruited Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C.

While at Duke, he worked with the wide receivers during the 2001 season and with the defensive backs during the 2002 and 2003 campaigns. Peake was key in signing All-ACC and All-American cornerback John Talley, the Blue Devils' career interception leader. He also signed top-10 Duke all-time receiver Jomar Wright as he recruited South Carolina and Tampa, Florida.

A native of Duncan, S.C., Peake is a 2001 graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C. with a degree in information systems with a concentration in programming. He was a three-year starter at safety in college, serving as captain as a senior when he earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors. As a senior, he helped the team to a perfect 11-0 record, the best record in program history.

He led Catawba to two South Atlantic Conference titles and two NCAA II playoff berths in 1999 and 2000 and finished his career with 221 tackles and six interceptions.

Dyran and his wife, Latorsha have a son, Jayden.
