Stephen Militello in his second season as UMass' assistant defensive line coach. In 2006, he worked with pair of all-conference players in David Burris and John Hatchell. Overall, he is in his third year with the Minutemen. He was involved with the football program for the 2005 season as an assistant to the director operations. He is a 2005 graduate from Northeastern University where he was a member of the football team from 2000-04 playing defensive end for current UMass coach Don Brown, during the 2000-03 seasons. Militello also worked in various roles at Northeastern with the men's basketball team as a student assistant and well as part of the Huskies' grounds crew.
A native of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, he was a star St. Joseph's Regional High School. He earned 10 letters overall including three in both football and lacrosse and four in powerlifting. He led the football team to league championship, state championship, top ranking in New Jersey and a No. 7 ranking in the USA Today national poll. He earned his B.S. from Northeastern in criminal justice in 2005.
