First Season at UMass

Matt Cassano is entering his first year as a graduate assistant on the UMass coaching staff. He will work with the Minuteman offensive line, assisting recruiting coordinator and offensive line coach Paul Gorham.

Cassano comes to UMass after completing his playing career at the University of New Hampshire last fall. A quarterback for the Wildcats, Cassano completed 73 of 162 passes during his career for 859 yards and eight touchdowns. He played in 14 career games, starting 10 times during his sophomore and junior seasons. One of Cassano?s top games at New Hampshire came against Delaware in 1997, when he completed a career-high 17 passes for 191 yards and his first career touchdown.

A native of Atkinson, N.H., Cassano played his high school ball at Lawrence (Mass.) Central Catholic. The younger brother of UMass running backs coach Mike Cassano, he is single and resides in Amherst.
