Eddy Morrissey is entering his second season at UMass as the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator. Morrissey came to UMass from Northeastern University, where he spent four years working under Don Brown.

Morrissey has put together some of the top recruiting classes in Division I-AA football. This past season, his UMass class of 2005 featuring seven Division I-A transfers and some of the top high school talent, was named No. 2 in the nation by The Sports Network, second only to Northern Iowa. On the field, Morrissey coached the Atlantic 10's top rusher in Steve Baylark. The tailback picked up a league high 1,138 yards in 2004, more than 100 yards a game as he was named the A-10's first-team tailback.

During his time at Northeastern, Morrissey served as the recruiting coordinator on Don Brown's staff for four seasons, in addition to coaching both the wide receivers (2001-2003) and running backs (2000). As the recruiting coordinator at Northeastern, he brought in some of the top classes in school history, with the program rising from a 2-9 record the year before his arrival to a perennial Atlantic 10 title contender. On the field, Morrissey helped direct a unit which led the Atlantic 10 Conference in total offense in 2003 with an average of 431.8 yards per game, while ranking second in scoring offense with an average of 34.5 points per contest. A year earlier, in 2002, he helped the Husky offense to average an Atlantic 10-best 31.0 points per game, while the team posted an overall record of 10-3, shared the Atlantic 10 Conference title and made the school's first-ever trip to the NCAA Division I-AA Playoffs.

Prior to his time at Northeastern, Morrissey spent three seasons at Brown University, serving as the running backs and special teams coach under Phil Estes for two years (1998-1999) and the secondary coach under Mark Whipple for one season (1997). In 1999, he helped guide Brown to the Ivy League title. Morrissey was also a graduate assistant coach working with the secondary at Springfield College from 1994-1996, and served as a student assistant coach at Plymouth State College in 1993.

Morrissey graduated from Plymouth State in 1994, where he played both quarterback and tight end. He also received a master's degree from Springfield in 1996.

Morrissey is single and is a Nashua, N.H. native.
