2001: One of UMass? starting wide receivers, in addition to serving as the top punt returner ? Saw a bit of action as an option quarterback late in the season ? Named the team?s most outstanding offensive player ? Played in all 11 games on the season, starting nine times ? Led the team in receiving with 47 catches for 692 yards and three touchdowns ? His 47 catches on the year were the second most in school history for a junior ? Also returned 22 punts for 104 yards on the year ? Also returned 15 punts for 169 yards, rushed three times for 35 yards and returned two kickoffs for 38 yards ? Placed seventh on the UMass single season list for punt return average (11.3) ? Ranked third on the team with 612 all-purpose yards ? Made four receptions for 21 yards against Delaware ? Had two receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown in the victory over Villanova ? Caught three passes for 30 yards against AIC ? Had a team-high six catches for 49 yards at Northeastern, while also returning three punts for 33 yards and one kickoff for 20 yards ? Ranked eighth in the Atlantic 10 Conference in punt returns ? Made three receptions for 65 yards and his first career touchdown in the victory over Connecticut ? Had four punt returns for 32 yards at Richmond, with a long return of 21 yards ? Returned two punts for 33 yards against Rhode Island ? Returned three punts for 36 yards at Maine ? Had eight punt returns for 100 yards against Northeastern, including a long of 29 yards ? The eight punt returns against the Huskies tied a UMass single game record ? Returned four punts for 19 yards against Hofstra, with a long return of 11 yards ? Saw his first action of the season at Toledo, playing both as a wide receiver and a punt returner.

Before UMass: Played for John Amabile at Neptune Senior High School ? Four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at quarterback and defensive back ? Led the team to an overall record of 22-1 as the starting quarterback ? Earned All-America honors from Prep Star magazine ? First team All-State choice on both offense and defense in his senior year, when he was also team MVP and team captain ? Participated in the Governor?s Bowl after his senior season, showcasing the top senior talent in New Jersey and New York ? Earned All-Monmouth County and All-Jersey Shore honors as a senior ? High school team won the Class 4 (top class) state title during his freshman and senior campaigns.
