Bryan Butterworth begins his fifth year with UMass as the Assistant Defensive Back Coach. He will work with new Defensive Backs Coach Dyran Peake after two years assisting former Head Coach Don Brown.

In 2009, Butterworth continued to work with Jeromy Miles and was able to watch him compile the teams 4th most tackles on defense.

In 2008, Butterworth worked with perhaps the nation's top secondary as UMass had three preseason All-Conference selections in All-American Sean Smalls, Jeromy Miles and Courtney Robinson.

In 2007, Butterworth aided in those players development as all were named to the All-CAA postseason team in the Minutemen's CAA title season.

Prior to coming to UMass in summer of 2007, Butterworth spent a year as an assistant coach at Watertown High School in New York. He worked with the wide receivers and defensive backs. He also worked at the Troy University Football Camp in 2007.

As a player, Butterworth played two years at Canisius in Buffalo, New York and two years at Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Connecticut. At SHU, he was a two-time NEC All-Academic Selection and a member of the NCAA Student-Athlete Academic Council.

Butterworth graduated Cum Laude from Sacred Heart in 2005 with a degree in Business.
