AMHERST, Mass. - UMass men's basketball junior Terrell Vinson has been named the UMass Athlete of the Week after helping the Minutemen to a 72-67 win over Quinnipiac last Saturday. Vinson scored 13 points, pulled down eight rebounds and had two steals and an assist in the win. The UMass Sports Luncheon will be Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 12 PM in Room 1009 of the Campus Center.

Vinson's play in the second half was critical as he helped key an 18-0 run coming out of the halftime break. In that run, the native of Baltimore hauled in four of his rebounds, hit a three pointer, had a lay-up, assisted on another lay-up and recorded a steal.

The 13 points marked the third time this season he reached double-figures in the scoring column.

Guest speakers on Wednesday will be UMass head basketball coach Derek Kellogg along with the program's admistrative assistant Bonnie Otto who is a long-time member of the athletic department.

A full salad-to-dessert buffet is offered for just $11 and the luncheon begins at Noon.

Vinson and the men's basketball team will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 22 against Davidson at the Mullins Center. The Minutemen are currently undefeated at home (4-0 at the Mullins Center and 1-0 at the Cage). Tip-off for Thursday is slated for 7 PM.
