NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Massachusetts junior Cady Lalanne has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Rhode Island freshman E.C. Matthews earned the league's Rookie of the Week honor the A-10 announced Monday. Both awards were for games played Nov. 18-24.

This marked the third consecutive week that UMass has garnered the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor and the second week for Lalanne this season.

Lalanne was named the Charleston Classic Most Valuable Player after averaging a double-double with 15.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game in helping UMass capture the Charleston Classic Championship. The center from Orlando, Fla., opened the tournament with a 15-point, nine-rebound game in a win over Nebraska. Then he followed with 12 points, 14 rebounds and a season-high four blocks against No. 19/20 New Mexico and their 7-foot All-America candidate Alex Kirk. In the title game against Clemson, he had a game-high 20 points, 12 boards and another four blocks in a career-high 36 minutes. He had two double-doubles against the two toughest opponents in the week.

Matthews averaged 11.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in a 2-1 week for Rhode Island. He knocked down 3-of-5 from the perimeter, en route to registering 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists against Metro State. Matthews bounced back from the loss to No. 4/5 Arizona with a 15-point, five-rebound, three-assists performance versus UMass Lowell. For the week, the freshman from Romulus, Mich., connected on 6-of-11 from the perimeter and registered a 2.7:1 assist-to-turnover ratio while playing an average of 28 minutes per game.

Devin Oliver scored a career-high 20 points, shooting 50 percent from the field to lead Dayton to a key road win at Georgia Tech ... Dayton freshman Scoochie Smith tied the school record with four steals in a game and he also dished out five assists in 13 minutes against the Yellow Jackets ... Duquesne senior transfer Ovie Soko continues to impress, recording an 18.3-point, 11.5 rebound double-double while also handing out five assists in the Dukes win over Albany ... Tyreek Duren averaged 15.7 points and 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals for La Salle ... Isaiah Armwood led GW with 17 points, five rebounds, three blocks and two steals, and added four assists in just 21 minutes in a 94-50 rout of Delaware State ... GW freshman Nick Griffin came off the bench and made 4-of-4 three-pointers and 5-of-6 shots overall en route to a career-best 14 points in 21 minutes ... Xavier Munford averaged 18 points, including scoring 22 against No. 4/5 Arizona while averaging 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 steals for the week ... Cedric Lindsay had one of the best weeks of his career, scoring a career-high 26 versus Hofstra, followed by another career-high of 29 against No. 19 North Carolina ... Saint Louis freshman Tanner Lancona scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting (including 2-for-3 from 3-point range) for the Billikens against Bowling Green.
