Basketball Hosting `Bash At Southwest Beach' On Oct. 15

AMHERST, Mass. - The men's and women's UMass basketball teams are inviting all fans to come out and help them kick off the 2011-12 season with the "Bash at Southwest Beach" on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the "Horseshoe" in the Southwest Residential Area. From 4-6:30 p.m., the team is hosting a dance party with a live DJ, t-shirt giveaways, tailgating, free prizes courtesy of Domino's, and the chance to win a trip for two to the Bahamas with the men's basketball team!
Head Coaches Derek Kellogg and Sharon Dawley, as well as all the Minutemen and Minutewomen invite the public and all students to help them celebrate the beginning of the new season, and of course, attendance is free.
Everything kicks off at 4 p.m. on Saturday with DJ Killa Instinkt playing at the "Horseshoe" at the Southwest Residential Area and tailgating starting across the street in Lot 33 for Court Club members and all fans.
There will be registration for raffles, including an iPad and the Coca-Cola Shootout, a competition over four UMass basketball events with the winner getting a trip for two with the men's basketball team to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas over Thanksgiving weekend. The shootout is open to all UMass students and the Grand Prize will be awarded in the second half of the NJIT game on Nov. 17, which includes plane flight, hotel stay and tickets to the three UMass games at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.
A valid student ID is required to register for raffles and contests. Registration for the Coca-Cola Shootout ends at 4:30, so be sure to get there early!
The men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced, UMass cheerleaders will perform, and 200 t-shirts will be given away as the party continues until 6:30 p.m.
