Tickets On Sale For Boston Tip-Off Classic

BOSTON, Mass - Tickets are now on sale to the Boston Tip-Off Classic which takes place on Dec. 4 at TD Garden in Boston. UMass will take on Boston College in the doubleheader with the other game pitting Northeastern against Drexel. More information including game times and TV information will be available in the coming weeks.

Tickets are priced between $7.50 and $50 for the doubleheader at the home of the Boston Celtics.

UMass will be playing at the TD Garden for the second year in a row after a dramatic 73-72 win over Memphis last season on Dec. 19, 2009.

UMass is a perfect 4-0 all-time at the TD Garden.

The Minutemen played the first-ever college basketball game at the TD Garden, the home of the NBA's Boston Celtics and NHL's Boston Bruins. UMass knocked off Boston College, 65-57 on Dec. 9, 1995 in the first Commonwealth Classic before a sellout of 18,974.

UMass has won two more Commonwealth Classics played at the Garden, formerly known as the Fleet Center. The Minutemen beat Boston College on Jan. 18, 1997, 90-78 before 15,215 and by the score of 65-57 on Dec. 14, 1997 in front of 9,218. That was UMass' last game at the facility.

UMass played many games at the Old Boston Garden. On this date in 1955, George "Trigger" Burke cracked the 20-point mark for the fourth-consecutive game, scoring 29 points at the Boston Garden in leading the Redmen to a 91-73 win over Boston College.
