Battle 4 Atlantis Bracket Revised, UMass Still Opens Vs. FSU
Aug. 31, 2011
AMHERST, Mass. - The bracket for the 2011 Battle 4 Atlantis, the preseason basketball tournament in the Bahamas on Thanksgiving weekend, has been altered, organizers at the Atlantis Resort announced. UMass will still face Florida State in the opening round, as all first round matchups remain the same, but the Minutemen will be paired with either Harvard or Utah in their second game.
The Utah/Harvard and UCF/College of Charleston matchups switched sides of the bracket, avoiding potential second round games between teams already playing each other in regular season non-conference games. Florida State is slated to face UCF on Nov 14 and Harvard is scheduled to face Connecticut on Dec. 8.
All eight teams will play three games in three days.
A complete television schedule, as well as ticket and travel information, will be released at a later date.
All games in the Battle 4 Atlantis, including UMass' three games, will be played at the 4,000-seat Imperial Arena at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas. The half-million dollar temporary stadium boasts state-of-the-art regulation facilities at the epicenter of the world's largest open-air marine habitat complete with lavish guest accommodations, restaurants, bars, spa, lounges, waterslides and the largest casino in the Bahamas.
