AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts men's basketball team will play host to Manhattan as part of the 2014 ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon event, as announced by ESPN Monday.

The Minutemen and Jaspers will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. on ESPN2 in the Mullins Center. The game will be the 11th of 19 during the marathon across the various ESPN family of networks, including WatchESPN, following Stephen F. Austin hosting Iona at 9 a.m.

The game was originally slated to be played on Nov. 19 but was moved to accommodate the ESPN request to include it in the Tip-Off Marathon.

UMass and Manhattan will be meeting for the eighth time in men's hoops. The Minutemen hold a 6-1 all-time record with the last meeting having taken place more than 20 seasons ago - a 68-54 UMass victory on Feb. 18, 1994.

This will mark the third-consecutive year and fourth overall that UMass has participated in the seven years of the event. The Minutemen defeated LSU 92-90 last year at the Mullins Center in the same time slot as this year's contest. UMass opened the 2012 campaign with a thrilling, come-from-behind 67-64 win over Harvard in the 10 a.m. window. UMass also participated in the initial event in 2008 when they played at Memphis in a game that began at midnight EST as the first contest of 14.

UMass will return eight letterwinners and two starters from last season's team that went 24-9 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. Additionally, the Minutemen welcome a pair of redshirts who practiced with the team all season in Jabarie Hinds and Zach Coleman, along with signees C.J. Anderson and Rashaan Holloway.

UMass has won 70 games in the last three years with 20-plus win campaigns and national postseason appearances each year.

Head coach Derek Kellogg is entering his seventh year at his alma mater and has registered 109 career victories. The Springfield, Mass. native was named the USBWA District I Coach of the Year in 2014. He stands third on the school's career coaching list behind legends Jack Leaman and his mentor John Calipari.

Manhattan went 25-8 last season in head coach Steve Masiello's third season. The Jaspers went 15-5 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play and won the league's postseason tournament.

Ticket information will be announced soon.
