AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass men's basketball team will be out in the community on Aug. 2 when it takes part in the basketball court rededication and barbecue at St. Brigid's Church in Amherst from 5-7 p.m. The event is open to the public and all are welcome. The Minutemen will be available for photos and autographs as well.

The Rev. John Smegal, Pastor of St. Brigid's is hosting the Minutemen and the public at the event as a celebration of the completion of major renovations to the parish's recreation center, including its basketball court.

"This is another great event in the local community that we are proud to be a part of," Head Coach Derek Kellogg said. "Father Smegal spends time with our team during the year and this is a great opportunity to thank him for his support as well as the members of the parish who have worked hard and invested so much in the newly renovated rec hall."

St. Brigid's is located at 122 North Pleasant Street in downtown Amherst. Fr. Smegal and the Minutemen encourage everyone to come out and join them on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 5-7 p.m.!
