Former UMass Star Freeman To Play For Chicago Bulls Summer Team

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass' fourth all-time leading scorer Rashaun Freeman will be playing for the Chicago Bulls Summer League Team as part of the Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando from July 7-11. Freeman will play on a team including No. 1 overall draft pick Derrick Rose. Freeman comes off his first pro season in France where he averaged 19.4 points and 8.0 rebounds for Nantes.
Freeman will be wearing No. 44 for the Bulls as they begin play on July 7 against Miami at the RDV Sportsplex. His first game will come against former UMass teammate Stephane Lasme, who will see action for the Heat after finishing the year with the team.
Freeman appeared in 37 games with Nantes in the French Pro B League ... averaged 19.4 ppg and 8.0 rpg in 30.1 mpg.
In his senior year at UMass he was named NABC All-District First-Team Selection for the third year in a row and Atlantic 10 First Team for the third year in a row. He finished fourth in career points at UMass with 1,744 and third in career rebounds with 998. As a senior, led UMass in scoring with 14.7 ppg and averaged 8.3 rpg. Freeman was named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year, in addition to being selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team his freshman year and also received the team's George Trigger Burke Most Valuable Player Award, Julius Erving Scoring Award and Lou Roe Rebounding Award his freshman season.
Freeman is the third UMass player to be seeing action in an NBA Summer League as Gary Forbes is playing for the Washington Wizards in Las Vegas.
