June 23, 2014
AMHERST, Mass. - The 2013-14 Massachusetts men's basketball season was a memorable one on many fronts, with one of the most noticeable at the turnstiles.
UMass collected five sellouts and averaged 6,600 fans in 14 home dates during the 2013-14 season, placing the Minutemen 75th among all Division I programs. It also marked the first foray into the top 100 since 2007 and the 12th time in school history.
UMass' home attendance increased by 1,345 fans from 2012-13 to 2013-14, ranking 10th nationally. It was the second-consecutive year the Minutemen appeared in the top 30 for the largest increase from the previous year, joining only three other schools with that distinction (Iowa, Oklahoma and SMU).
The 6,600 home average was the highest since the 1998-99 campaign (7,240), while the single-season increase was the largest since moving into the Mullins Center midway through the 1992-93 year. It was also the eighth-highest average in school history.
