AMHERST, Mass. - The Atlantic 10 Conference unveiled the home and away league match-ups for the 2014-15 men's basketball season, along with an expanded schedule for the first time in more than two decades on Thursday.
The 18-game slate will see each team play the other 13 teams once, with five of those in a home-and-home series. The last time the A-10 utilized an 18-game schedule came during the 1990-91 season. The league will be comprised of 14 teams with the addition of Davidson.
UMass is slated to face Fordham, La Salle, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's and St. Bonaventure - the five league schools located the closest to Amherst - both home and away. The Minutemen will also see Davidson, Dayton, Duquesne and Richmond visit the Mullins Center, along with road contests against George Mason, George Washington, Saint Louis and Richmond.
UMass has compiled a 18-6 home record in A-10 regular-season play over the past three seasons and 10-14 away from Amherst.
UMass will return eight letterwinners and two starters from last season's team that 24-9 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. Additionally, the Minutemen welcome a pair of redshirts who practiced with the team all season in Jabarie Hinds and Zach Coleman, and fall signees C.J. Anderson and Rashaan Holloway.
UMass has won 70 games in the last three years with a trio of 20-plus win campaigns and national postseason appearances each year.
Head coach Derek Kellogg is entering his seventh year at his alma mater and has registered 109 career victories. The Springfield, Mass. native was named the USBWA District I Coach of the Year in 2014. He stands third on the school's career coaching list behind legends Jack Leaman and his mentor John Calipari.
The complete 2014-15 A-10 schedule with dates, times and television assignments will be announced at a later date.
