AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts men's basketball team will participate in the 2014 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament next season as announced by the BBHOF on Thursday.

UMass has been assigned to the Naismith Bracket with Florida State, Notre Dame and Providence.

The event will consist of a campus-round portion, played at the home arenas of select schools, and the championship round, played at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23.

The Minutemen will play host to Manhattan on Wednesday, Nov. 19 and Northeastern on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Both games will start at 7 p.m.

The championship round will see UMass play Notre Dame on Nov. 22 and Florida State on Nov. 23. Both games will begin at Noon.

North Carolina defeated Louisville to win the 2013 Naismith Memorial Basketball Tip-Off Classic Championship in 2013. Previous winners of the event are Kentucky in 2011 and Ohio State in 2012.

Nov. 19 vs. Manhattan: UMass holds a 6-1 series lead. The teams have not met since Feb. 18, 1994 when the 10th-ranked Minutemen claimed a 68-54 victory in Amherst.
Nov. 22 vs. Notre Dame: This will mark the first meeting in men's basketball between the schools.
Nov. 23 vs. Florida State: FSU holds a 4-3 edge in the series that has seen the teams meet twice in the last three seasons and four times since 2005. The Seminoles have won the last three contests, including a 73-53 win at the inaugural Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 24, 2011 and a 60-55 decision at last year's Orange Bowl Basketball Classic in Sunrise, Fla. on Dec. 21 - a game that served as the Minutemen's first loss of the 2013-14 campaign.
Nov. 26 vs. Northeastern: UMass leads the series 36-17 with the Minutemen winning the last two meetings, including the most recent one, 83-67, on Nov. 14, 2011.

The event further enhances UMass' association with the Hall of Fame in head coach Derek Kellogg's time in Amherst that has seen the team participate in the Holiday Classic each of the last three seasons and the 2010 Tip-Off Classic in Springfield.
