PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Nine players from the Atlantic 10 Conference are among 64 seniors who will participate in the 56th annual Portstmouth Invitational Apr. 9-12, a showcase for outstanding men's basketball players in their senior year of college.

Xavier teammates Stanley Burrell, Josh Duncan and Drew Lavender will be joined by Parfait Bitee of Rhode Island; Saint Joseph's Pat Calathes; Bryant Dunston of Fordham; Massachusetts' Gary Forbes; Brian Roberts of Dayton; and Temple's Mark Tyndale.

Forbes was the A-10 Player of the Year and named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Associated Press. It marks the second year in a row UMass had an AP All-American, as he joins Stephane Lasme, who was the 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year.

The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (P.I.T.) is the nation's oldest amateur basketball tournament. It is recognized by NBA and European scouts as the premier showcase for future professional players. The P.I.T. is the only tournament for college seniors to participate in and be evaluated by the National Basketball Association prior to the NBA's pre-draft camp in Orlando.

Over 50 student-athletes who participated in the P.I.T. have gone on to either play and/or coach in the NBA, including former A-10 standouts Cuttino Mobley (Rhode Island) and Rasual Butler (La Salle).

The tournament gets underway on Wednesday, Apr. 9, and all games will be played at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va. Tickets can be purchased for $8 a night or $25 for all 12 contests through Ticketmaster (757-671-8100) or the Willett Hall Box Office at 757-393-5460.
