Basketball standout Freddie Riley was named the UMass Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Sports Luncheon Committee earlier this week.

The senior from Ocala, Fla. led UMass to a crucial road victory at Xavier with 18 points on a career-high tying six 3-pointers. He was 6-for-10 in the game and nailed 5-of-6 in the second half. His triple with 12:27 to play broke a 53-53 tie and gave the Minutemen the lead for good. His three just over a minute later pushed the lead to seven as UMass won at the Cintas Center for the first time since 2001 - snapping a five-game losing skid - and became just the fourth A-10 school to win multiple games at the facility.

This marks the second time this season he has won the award, with the first coming on Jan. 7, following another of his six 3-pointer performances.

Head coaches John Michelleto and Derek Kellogg are the featured speakers.

The event costs $11 to attend and free parking will be available behind the Mullins Center.

The event feature a salad-to-desert buffet and speakers giving you the latest on UMass athletics. There have been a variety of speakers in the past ranging from coaches to athletic directors and there is a chosen Athlete of the Week who is honored and talks about their team's accomplishments and goals as well as their own, giving you the perspective of the student athlete.
