In Massachusetts' first overtime game of the season the Minutemen beat Providence 69-67. The last time UMass found itself in overtime was against Elon on December 12, 2012, a game UMass won 78-73.
Tonight's attendance of 9,493 fans marked the 60th sellout in the history of the Mullins Center and the first since December 2, 2006.
This is the team's second home sell-out of the season. On December 7, Massachusetts defeated BYU 105-96 in front of a sold out MassMutual Center with the crowd totaling 7,331. This is the first time UMass has had multiple sell-outs in a season since 1998-99 season.
Three Umass players recorded double-doubles in the game, marking the first time that has happened since Feb. 22, 1999 against Xavier.
Trey Davis finished with 12 points, his third game scoring in double-figures this season and sixth of his career.
Chaz Williams totaled 10 assists on the night, pulling him within one game of tying Carl Smith's UMass record of 15 games with double-digit assists. The point guard also grabbed his fourth double-double of the season and the 15th of his career with 10 points.
Cady Lalanne has now scored double-digits for the 10th time in 12 contests this season. The center finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season, tied for the most in the Atlantic 10.
Sampson Carter grabbed his second career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
This game was the second win for an A-10 team over a Big East opponent. A-10 teams were previously 1-8 against Big East teams this season.
UMass is 14-1 in regular season non-conference games at the Mullins Center over the past three years.
