AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Maurice Maxwell scored 19 points, leading Massachusetts to an 83-65 victory over Marshall on Saturday.

Rashaun Freeman added 18 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Anderson scored 17 for UMass (3-4).

The Minutemen led 46-29 at halftime and never trailed in the contest. Freeman scored 14 points and Maxwell added 13 for the Minutemen in the first half, as UMass shot 50 percent from the field for the half.

Marshall (3-4) made an 11-2 run early in the second half, cutting the lead to 14, 58-44 with 13:26 remaining, but was unable to close the gap any further. The Minutemen led by as many as 24 points, 78-54, with 5:21 to play.

David Anderson, with 11 points, was the only Marshall player in double figures.
