Men's Basketball Falls To Boston College 80-62

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - Boston College broke things open with a 14-0 run early in the second half as they went on to a 80-62 win over Massachusetts on Saturday in the annual Commonwealth Classic.
Troy Bell with 21 points and Ryan Sydney with 18 led the Eagles (3-2), who turned up their offense after a 34-28 advantage at halftime. Craig Smith added 12 points and Jermaine Watson 11 for the Eagles, which shot 54.3 from the field in the second half.
UMass scored the first seven points of the game, with Jackie Rogers getting the first five. The Eagles got their first lead at 10-9 on a three-pointer by Bell.
The game was later tied at 22 and 24 before a field goal by Bell and a pair from the line by Watson gave the Eagles the lead for the rest of the game.
BC quickly secured a 48-30 lead after its early second half streak, behind 8 points from Sidney. It went on to lead by as many as 21 points (70-49) as it dominated the second half.
