Postgame Quotes: UMass vs. Rutgers In Legends Classic

Nov. 27, 2009

Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

Derek Kellogg on the late run:
"We gave them a run down the stretch. We made a couple of stabs and got it close, but it wasn't enough."

Kellogg on playing in Atlantic City:
"Maybe we can change our luck down here when we come back for the A-10 tournament in March. I have a team with freshmen and sometimes they don't play like freshmen and other times they do. I am still trying to get a feel for this team, but it is very early.''

Kellogg on Ricky Harris:

"We need Ricky to play the game we know he can play all the time. He's a senior and he needs to play like that."

"I need Ricky to play the way he played in the second half for this team to win. I'm not blaming him for the loss, but we need him to play the way he did in the second half. He was just out of his game in the first half.''

Ricky Harris on his play:

"I was a little too aggressive at the start. I got two quick fouls and I backed off and I wound up letting the rest of the team down. If I had played the first half the way I played the second half, the game would've ended differently."

Rutgers Coach Fred Hill:
"I thought it was a good bounce-back win for us. But we did the same thing tonight that we did the other day. We lost our composure for about a five- or six-minute stretch and it went from 19 (point lead) to (four). But I think we were able to regain our composure and make big plays down the stretch to win the game."

Rutgers guard Mike Rosario:
"I actually was in the zone. Before every game I tell myself that I've got to be the first one out there and last one to leave the locker room (prior to the game). I made a lot of good plays for my teammates, took my time and when I had the open shot, I stuck it. I was in the zone and I just knew that it was going to be a big game for us and that I had to come up big for my teammates."

Rutgers center Hamady Ndiaye:

"We need every game. After whatever happened Sunday, we had to bounce back and show what we really are about. What we've been training for this entire time."
