  • UMass is 5-0 for the first time since the Final Four season of 1995-96. That year, UMass started the season 26-0. The 5-0 start equals the 11th-best start in the 102 years of UMass basketball.

  • The win by +27 points was the largest margin of victory under Derek Kellogg. The previous high was +26 vs. Arkansas-Fort Smith (11/21/09).

  • UMass broke open the game with a 17-0 run in the second half.

  • Anthony Gurley had 11 points in the first half as he hit double-figures for the fifth time this season in as many games and 54th in his career. He finished with 22, to lead the team in scoring for the fifth time in as many games this year as well.

  • Gurley had his 12th career 20-point game and second this season.

  • Gary Correia tied his career-high with 12 ... His previous high was 12 vs. Rhode Island on March 7, 2009.

  • Sampson Carter tallied 13, his third game this season and seventh in his career in double-figures.

  • Javorn Farrell had his third game in as many games this season in double-figures with 10. It was his fifth-career game with 10 or more.

  • Freddie Riley had his third dunk in two games and his team-best four on the season.

  • Sampson Carter drew a charge for the second time this season, in the first half.

  • UMass is now 21-14 all-time against local foe American International. This was the first regular-season game between the teams since 1987.
